How to prepare for your Belt Exam

If your getting ready to test for your next belt in your style, then there are a few things you should know.

First, this is an exciting time for you. You will be feeling some anxiety especially if it is your first exam.

You should be preparing both mentally and physically. Depending on your rank, your length will varry.

Students should be ready and expected to perform the required skills nessesary for their particular rank.

I would recomend practicing at least 15 - 30 minutes per day for 3 weeks leading up to the exam. This is in addition to your regular classes that your must be attending.

"Be Prepared". If you don't know what is going to be on the belt exam, ASK!!!

It is your exam so please make every effort to understand what it is you will need to be successful on that day.

For the curriculum required for your rank/level at Crescent Moon Karate Academy, please follow this link to the Belt Rank System. Select the rank you are testing for and you will find a descritpion of what will be covered.

Don't be afraid of Private Lessons! They are the best way to hone your skills and perfect your form prior to the test. Privates are worth the investment.

What to eat the night before a Long exam. If you are testing for Black Belt in our school, its best to get lots of calories in the night before. I suggest eating a big meal, but be careful not to over eat. only eat until you are full.

Last small bit of advice before your exam. Train hard in every class before hand. If you go to class train hard and give it 110% everytime, you should have no troubles during your test. Good Luck and go train!
