
Sparring Guidelines
WHAT IS SPARRING?
Sparring is a type of martial arts partner practice. Students utilize a variety offensive and defefensive skills nessesary to defend themselves and defet their opponent.
WHAT TO EXPECT
• A qualified instructor should always supervise students
• Sparring ranges in style and intensity, but participants should never go full force. Light and/or incidental contact should be expected
• Encourage your child to follow all instructor directions
RULES & Ettiquete

Follow all rules and feedback from your instructor

All required gear must be worn to spar Inspect gear and discard damaged or worn out equipment

Only spar with a qualified instructor present Remember it is a practice, not a competition

Higher belts have the responsibility to mentor lower ranks

Control your strikes and emotions and never go full speed or full force

No face contact allowed

Those who use excessive force will not be allowed to participate

If you or your partner experience pain that could increase chance of injury, stop immediately and inform an instructor
WHY WE SPAR
• Sparring improves martial arts skills like footwork, timing, distance, and accuracy
• Students learn life skills, such as self-confidence, self-control, respect, and courage
EQUIPMENT

You must wear all appropriate equipment that is required.

You may only wear equipment that is "Official" Approved Crescent Moon Karate Equipment.

Equipment must be in good condition. No rips or tears. No tape or stickers on your equipment. (You will not be allowed to spar if your equipment is in dissorder)

All students must wear - Head , Hands, feet, shinguards, rig guards, mouth guard (Properly fitted) and all Male students wear a cup.
